Director of Maintenance Job Description

Transdev is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Maintenance to oversee the maintenance operations of our fleet in North Las Vegas, Nevada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vehicles, while also managing a team of technicians and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and administer fleet maintenance, troubleshooting problems with vehicles and equipment
  • Allocate, shift, and deploy resources based on shop needs, finding balance to address changing circumstances
  • Communicate with General Manager to ensure maintenance and operational goals are aligned and on track
  • Make employment decisions, train and develop staff, plan and direct work, discipline, and handle employee complaints or grievances
  • Ensure both shops operate within approved budget, accurately forecasting expenses monthly and managing staff to meet KPIs, budgets, and forecasts
  • Cover Maintenance Manager responsibilities in their absence, complying with Transdev and client policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Advocate for continuous improvement of technician skills, participation in ASE certification program, and ensure technicians are trained on current operating procedures
  • Ensure a safe environment exists and all maintenance activities comply with State, Federal, and Company requirements
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's, Bachelor's, or Technical training preferred
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
  • Direct automotive, diesel, CNG, alternative fuel, and Zero emissions vehicle repair experience; Transit bus experience required
  • Strong employee management skills, including experience in a union environment
  • Financial and budget forecasting experience required
  • Ability to prioritize company and client objectives
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Leadership and team-building skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Master ASE certification strongly preferred
