M1 Support Services is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic I - Structures to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), Company Policy, AFI 21-101, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examine reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listen to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
- Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.
- Test engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction.
- Minimum of five years performing aircraft structural and metals technology maintenance functions in a military environment and attainment of an Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and manufacture parts according to specifications.
- Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly cross-utilization/trained environment.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.
- Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Must be able to move about both inside aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
- Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
- May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
- May be exposed to contaminants.
- May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders.
- Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise.
- Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: safety toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.
