Aircraft Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Maintenance Technician to join our team at Air Mobility Command. As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on aircraft, including removing, inspecting, cleaning, repairing, adjusting, and installing components and parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Removes major components of aircraft structure or systems such as control surfaces, fairing, access panels, doors, hatches, landing gear assemblies, engines, activator units, tubing, electrical wiring, and control cables.
  • Performs repair of limited complexity such as removing worn or damaged gaskets, pneudraulic lines, and couplings, fuel cells, and pulleys
  • Works with higher grade mechanics to accomplish larger and more complex operations such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems
  • Accomplishes operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Requirements:

  • Must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
  • Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800, Aircraft Overhaul Group.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in hanger areas, outdoors, in parked aircraft, and sometimes in hazardous noise areas.
  • Exposed to extremes in heat, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Must work in confined areas and in awkward positions.
