Position Overview
The Housing Initiative at Penn (HIP) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Senior Research Analyst to engage in empirical studies focused on housing instability, economic vulnerability, and public support systems. HIP is committed to fostering more effective and equitable housing policies across various levels of governance. Through rigorous research, community partnerships, and inclusive planning, HIP aims to influence policy effectively. As a vital member of the HIP research team, the Senior Research Analyst will oversee specific research initiatives and contribute to the production of research reports, briefs, events, and outreach communications.
Key Responsibilities
● Collaborate with senior HIP personnel and community partners to conceptualize, design, and implement research projects.
● Conduct comprehensive research, including qualitative interviews, and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
● Supervise graduate research assistants in their support of research activities.
● Develop reports, working papers, journal articles, blogs, and other communication materials, either independently or in collaboration with team members.
● Present research findings at various forums and effectively communicate insights to diverse audiences.
● Work collaboratively within a cohesive team environment.
Additional Information
● This is a full-time salaried position.
● Compensation will be based on experience.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in affordable housing policy and socioeconomic disparities.
- Proficient quantitative analysis skills, including expertise in statistical and geospatial analysis techniques (R or Stata preferred).
- Strong qualitative research abilities and experience conducting interviews with individuals experiencing housing and financial challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management capabilities, including the ability to meet multiple deadlines, guide research assistants, and navigate complex project dynamics.
- A graduate degree in public policy, urban planning, sociology, or a related field is preferred.
