The Practice Assistant II - Urology Surgery plays a vital role in the daily operations of the Access Center. Under the guidance of the Operations Supervisor, this position is integral to managing the access team’s workflow, which includes:
- Handling high-volume call distribution and scheduling new patient appointments.
- Managing communications related to the urology access center, ensuring professional and courteous interactions.
- Reviewing and verifying patient demographic and insurance information.
This role involves extensive communication with various clinical and administrative departments, as well as external medical facilities. Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to telephone inquiries and messages related to patient appointments.
- Processing email requests and managing the eReferral system.
- Gathering necessary patient records from external sources to prepare for visits.
- Ensuring that the most current patient data is available for physician review prior to appointments.
- Addressing patient concerns and ensuring follow-up within the division.
- Performing general office duties such as faxing, filing, and photocopying.
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience: At least six months of relevant work experience is necessary, with additional training in office systems preferred.
Skills and CompetenciesThe ideal candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of practice operations and standards.
- Proficiency in office procedures including filing, copying, and scanning.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow established protocols.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes.
This position is based in a hospital ambulatory practice setting, where exposure to communicable diseases and other clinical conditions may occur.
Compliance and StandardsThe Practice Assistant II is expected to adhere to all legal, regulatory, and ethical standards relevant to the role, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
