Position Overview
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse Prevention Department as a Program Assistant. This role is integral to our mission of promoting student health and wellness through evidence-based initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
As a Program Assistant, you will:
1. Facilitate BASICS, a structured screening and intervention program focused on alcohol and drug use among college students, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques.
2. Support the development and implementation of training sessions and engagement strategies for students, faculty, and staff regarding substance misuse and related health topics.
3. Contribute to the creation of health communication materials, including social media content, newsletters, and educational posters.
4. Engage in ongoing training and quality improvement activities to enhance your skills in delivering health promotion programs.
5. Participate in regular supervision sessions to discuss progress and receive feedback.

Additional Duties
In addition to primary responsibilities, you may also:
- Assist in program evaluation efforts, including data collection and analysis.
- Conduct literature reviews and research best practices for health service development.
- Attend relevant meetings and collaborate on special projects as needed.

Qualifications
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in health education, behavioral sciences, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Enrollment in graduate coursework at UW-Milwaukee.
- At least one year of experience in community health, health education, or related fields.

Preferred:
- Experience working with college students or young adults.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate empathy.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques and group facilitation.
