Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Imaging Services and/or Specialty clinic Director, Manager, and Chief of Radiology/Imaging Services, or other Clinical Service Director, produces high-quality ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by Physicians in diagnosis and study of organ function.

As a Dedicated Specialty Sonographer II, you will perform technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibiting exceptional tact, courtesy, and poise, explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients for examination.
  • Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to examination specifications.
  • Starts equipment that produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film.
  • Moves transducer over specified areas of the body and observes sound wave display screens to monitor quality of ultrasonic patterns produced.
  • Photographs images of organs shown on display modules or removes strip printouts from equipment to obtain permanent records of internal examinations.
  • Keys test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain records of test results.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Two certifications from the following list: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Breast, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Abdomen, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certificate, or Reg Diagnostic Med Sonographer Fetal Echocardiography Certification.
Additional Requirements:
  • Prenatal: Applicants may be hired without certification, but will be required to obtain it within 90 days of hire.
  • NT certification is required to perform genetic screening for Prenatal Diagnostic Centers.
  • Cardiac: The ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography registry will be recognized and awarded for advancement from Dedicated Specialty Sonographer I to Dedicated Specialty Sonographer II in Dedicated Obstetrical labs.
