The Energy Planning & Innovation (P&I) Division plays a crucial role in fulfilling our mission by developing programs and policies that empower Oregonians to conserve energy, utilize it more effectively, and harness renewable sources. The division comprises two key sections: Energy Efficiency & Conservation and Energy Technology & Policy, which work collaboratively with other divisions and stakeholders to promote the development of clean energy resources and their integration into the state's energy infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary objective of this role is to deliver technical support, engineering expertise, educational resources, and program management to enhance energy efficiency and performance across new constructions, existing structures, and various energy applications in Oregon. This position will also oversee the enforcement of Oregon's product efficiency standards, building energy performance standards, and other energy-related initiatives.

WORK SCHEDULE

This role offers a hybrid remote work arrangement. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The selected candidate will be required to attend in-person meetings at the central workplace periodically throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management Engineering, or Energy Management Engineering; AND a minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Must hold a Professional Engineer license in Oregon or have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Proficiency in energy codes, standards, practices, and energy efficiency technologies, demonstrated through project execution, energy audits, inspections, and maintenance of non-residential buildings.
  • Experience in designing or evaluating engineering plans or efficiency measures for energy systems in commercial buildings.
  • Ability to construct or assess energy models for commercial building energy consumption.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders and advisory panels.
  • Capability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences through effective written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in researching and applying relevant state laws and regulations in analytical contexts.
