At the Low Income Housing Institute, we're committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for our residents. As a Building Support Worker, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the security and well-being of our community.

About the Job

This part-time position is responsible for providing an onsite presence at our building, primarily at the reception desk. You'll be monitoring the building through security cameras and keeping track of individuals entering and exiting the premises. Your primary goal will be to deter theft, violence, vandalism, illegal activities, or infractions of property rules.

The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively with low-income individuals. They'll also possess good communication skills and be able to respond to residents' concerns and questions regarding the building.

Responsibilities
  • Foster a safe, clean, and peaceful environment for residents
  • Provide an onsite presence mainly at the reception desk, monitoring the building through security cameras and individuals entering and exiting the premises
  • Enforce house rules and guest policies
  • Monitor activities and appearance of common areas, including entry, hallways, bathrooms, and community rooms
  • Respond to residents' concerns and questions regarding the building
  • Respond to emergencies on site, being on-call with a cell phone and performing grounds checks
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • One year of property security experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with low-income individuals
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to pass a criminal background and drug test
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $22.05-$27.51 per hour, as well as benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and sick leave. Employees accrue 116 hours of vacation during the first year and receive 11 paid holidays (prorated for part-time employees).
