Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all financial matters at Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC). The CFO will lead the development and monitoring of budgets, ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures, and oversee cash flow planning and availability of funds as needed.

The CFO will also oversee cash, investment, debt, and other financial asset management, as well as financing strategies and activities, and banking relationships. Additionally, the CFO will direct the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions, and supervise the Finance Director.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of experience in a senior financial-management role, preferably in a non-profit organization with a budget of at least $40 million. Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting, is required. Deep knowledge and understanding of relevant federal audit regulations is also necessary.

The CFO will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit properties, including construction accounting, cost certification audits, annual partnership audits and tax returns, and ongoing investor reporting requirements. The CFO will also develop and utilize financial analysis tools to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans, and participate in long-term strategic planning for the organization.

The CFO will represent the organization to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, foundation executives, auditors, etc. and ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent is required, and an MBA or equivalent is preferred.
