As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will oversee significant and intricate projects, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. Your leadership will guide project operations, while you mentor and develop team members in their professional journeys. You will embody and promote our core values and operational processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PRECONSTRUCTION PHASE
  • Facilitate the creation and refinement of the construction timeline.
  • Provide critical insights during the selection of Trade Partners.
  • Lead the formulation of site-specific Safety and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Action Plans before project initiation.
  • Develop comprehensive logistics and phasing strategies for the site.
  • Review and offer feedback on Trade Partner scopes and owner contracts prior to finalization.
  • Guide junior associates through leadership and learning opportunities.
  • Manage or assist in the project permitting process.
  • Establish general conditions and requirements for the project.
PROJECT SETUP AND PLANNING
  • Create a detailed phased logistics plan for the project.
  • Design site mobilization strategies, construction workflows, and hoisting/rigging plans.
  • Oversee stormwater management and erosion control plans.
  • Lead the establishment of site office requirements.
  • Coordinate site fencing and erosion control measures prior to mobilization.
  • Ensure all locates are identified and communicated effectively.
  • Assist in executing project permits.
SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT
  • Collaborate on the development of the project schedule to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  • Coordinate schedules for Trade Partners, vendors, and site personnel regularly.
  • Identify critical activities essential for upcoming months.
  • Formulate and implement recovery plans to maintain project timelines.
  • Proactively manage sequencing and phasing adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure the master schedule is current and accurately reflects any delays.
  • Lead weekly schedule updates and provide detailed look-ahead schedules.
  • Communicate the schedule effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Utilize scheduling software proficiently.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT
  • Analyze project budgets and weekly reports to ensure adherence to financial specifications.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions to maintain budget compliance.
  • Guide field staff to meet or exceed budgetary expectations.
  • Review labor and material reports, addressing discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to verify Trade Partner billing accuracy.
  • Execute Field Work Directives as necessary.
SAFETY MANAGEMENT
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project safety plan with support from the Safety Department.
  • Conduct weekly safety inspections, ensuring documentation and prompt resolution of issues.
  • Educate field staff on safety awareness.
  • Model safety-first practices on-site.
  • Ensure daily safety documentation is completed.
  • Verify Trade Partner safety requirements are established before mobilization.
  • Review hazardous material surveys thoroughly.
  • Assist in planning for high-risk activities.
LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT
  • Design a detailed material and equipment plan to optimize project efficiency.
  • Assess equipment needs and evaluate purchase versus rental options.
  • Ensure timely availability of equipment as per project schedule.
  • Establish a plan for tool and equipment rental optimization.
  • Provide a utilization plan for large equipment to the logistics center.
  • Ensure monthly logistics billing aligns with equipment on-site.
  • Oversee maintenance of company-owned equipment.
SELF-PERFORMED WORK
  • Manage production rates to ensure work aligns with budgetary and unit requirements.
  • Develop project staff and field craft needs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and recognize team members for their contributions.
  • Ensure timely notification for manpower requests.
  • Implement recovery plans as necessary to stay on track.
  • Ensure availability of required tools for self-performed tasks.
  • Coordinate and track field craft and self-perform activities effectively.
QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL
  • Collaborate with Building Performance Solutions to ensure effective project execution.
  • Accompany team members during site inspections.
  • Document and rectify deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Oversee the mock-up process and ensure adherence to plans.
  • Facilitate pre-installation meetings with Trade Partners.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections, ensuring proper documentation of non-conforming work.
  • Work with the Quality Manager to maintain project action plans.
  • Coordinate Building Envelope meetings to review project details.
  • Participate in site visits with the Quality Manager.
DOCUMENTATION MANAGEMENT
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation.
  • Ensure filing systems are efficient and well-maintained.
  • Keep drawings, daily logs, and inspections current.
  • Conduct regular photo documentation of project progress.
  • Document changes or field adjustments with the design team.
  • Ensure accurate daily logs are distributed promptly.
PROJECTIONS AND ANALYSIS
  • Lead project status reporting and progress documentation.
  • Ensure the project schedule is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Facilitate meetings with the project team.
  • Plan and execute deep dive visits for project assessment.
  • Track action items and documentation completion in a timely manner.
  • Encourage team members to contribute during meetings.
MEETINGS AND RELATIONSHIPS
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with Trade Partners and pre-installation discussions.
  • Co-develop and lead Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings.
  • Build professional relationships within the industry, representing McCownGordon with integrity.
  • Implement project safety plans with assistance from the Safety Department.
  • Ensure regular safety inspections are conducted and documented.
RISK MANAGEMENT
  • Verify that all contracts are in place before commencing work.
  • Ensure receipt of all necessary safety documentation from Trade Partners.
  • Confirm that Trade Partner Certificates of Insurance are current.
  • Establish Field Work Directives before initiating extra work.
  • Communicate the importance of proper delay documentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction sector.
  • Basic proficiency in computer and email applications.
  • Proven ability to schedule construction activities effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in managing safety on construction projects.
  • Strong language skills for interpreting documents and communicating effectively.
  • Mathematical skills for calculating project-related figures.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems in various situations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Midwest.
