Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer will oversee the management of small projects or components of large or complex projects, ensuring the application of JE Dunn processes and tools to manage project management, administration, and field execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely completion and within budget.
  • Quality Control: Coordinate with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks and participate in quality reviews.
  • Estimating and Change Management: Participate in estimating and change management processes, including quantity take-off and review of subcontractor proposals.
  • Field Execution: Work on site with the project team to carry out tasks such as monitoring crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantity, and equipment.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and disseminate required documentation, including project daily reports, weekly progress reports, and unit reporting.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Build relationships and develop communication and interpersonal skills with tradespeople and project team members.
  • Lean Practices: Implement Lean practices into regular activities and identify, develop, and integrate self-perform opportunities into the project.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Estimate Preparation: Lead the preparation of estimates for the base project, self-perform work, and change requests.
  • Subcontractor Management: Make decisions on the selection of subcontractors and vendors and coordinate approved purchase orders for timing and delivery of material purchases.
  • Project Schedule Management: Prepare and manage the project schedule, outlining the work plan and sequence for assigned portions of the project.
  • Risk Management: Manage project risks such as subcontractor performance, financials, and resource allocation.
  • Close-Out Process: Lead the project close-out process, including creation and management of punch lists, tracking and controlling quality and costs for assigned scopes of work, and scheduling inspections.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of construction experience.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, project management and accounting software, and required construction technology.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of organizational structure, available resources, project processes, Lean practices, self-perform and labor productivity, and specific trades and scopes of work.
