Position Overview

The MRI Imaging Specialist operates advanced magnetic resonance imaging equipment to capture detailed images of anatomical structures, assisting healthcare professionals in diagnosing various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a range of imaging procedures, including head, neck, spine, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, vascular, and musculoskeletal scans.
  • Determine and apply suitable imaging techniques while managing console operations and associated hardware.
  • Adjust machine settings based on patient-specific factors such as size, age, gender, and tissue density.
  • Ensure patient safety by screening individuals prior to procedures and providing clear explanations of the imaging process.
  • Perform venipuncture as necessary for certain imaging tasks.
  • Assist in patient positioning and preparation for imaging procedures.
  • Review physician requests for imaging and verify patient identity.
  • Evaluate image quality and completeness, maintaining accurate records of procedures.
  • Foster patient cooperation by addressing concerns and providing reassurance during examinations.
  • Continuously update knowledge of MRI techniques to maintain certification.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

Qualifications

Applicants must have completed an accredited magnetic resonance imaging training program and hold relevant certifications. A California Venipuncture Certificate is also required within a specified timeframe post-appointment.

Desirable Attributes

  • A Bachelor's degree in Radiology Technology or a related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience in operating MRI equipment for diagnostic imaging.

Physical Requirements

This role requires moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds.
