  2. Facilitate all clinical patient services in accordance with departmental protocols, ensuring a thorough understanding of all procedures to promote efficient scheduling and coordination of clinical activities.
  3. Process new patient referrals and arrange physician consultations alongside required testing and clinical procedures, ensuring proper sequencing and coordination with other departments.
  4. When scheduling patients, verify essential information including patient name, date of birth, contact details, primary care physician, social security number, and insurance type.
  5. Manage scheduling tasks received through various channels, including online appointment requests.
  6. Ensure accuracy in patient accounts during the scheduling of procedures and appointments, and meet with patients directly when necessary.
  7. Coordinate patient appointments and special procedures, adhering to established templates for new consultations.
  8. Schedule pre-surgical consultations, follow-up visits, and routine check-ups, while processing laboratory orders and providing patients with necessary preparation instructions.
  9. Initiate pre-authorization processes for all scheduled procedures and follow up to confirm that authorizations are obtained prior to appointments.
  10. Collect patient information at check-out and verify physician orders using the electronic medical record system.
  11. Schedule follow-up appointments, consulting with physicians as needed, and confirm appointments directly with patients.
  12. Monitor physician schedules to prevent appointment conflicts and maintain daily updates to the physician's calendar.
  13. Track and manage instances of patient no-shows, following established protocols for these situations.
  14. Review daily work lists for additional orders from providers and process patient refusal forms when necessary.
  15. Actively participate in handling incoming calls from patients, hospitals, and referring physician offices.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding standards.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
