Core Responsibilities

The selected candidate may be assigned to various divisions within the agency, including Certification, Accreditation, or Field Service Division. The role involves:

  • Facilitating in-service training sessions, researching new legislation and best practices, and preparing training proposals.
  • Coordinating instructor development and supervisory programs to enhance leadership skills beyond traditional classroom settings.
  • Overseeing the instructor certification process, ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting field audits, and developing curriculum.
  • Designing and navigating programs or courses to guide law enforcement units through the accreditation process, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with accreditation laws.
  • Ensuring that police officers, instructors, and training institutions comply with regulations and relevant statutes.
  • Investigating requests for police revocation submitted by law enforcement unit executives, conducting compliance hearings, and making recommendations.
  • Assisting with accreditation training and assessment teams, including POSTC CALEA and CONN-PAC.
  • Ensuring compliance with POSTC regulations for in-service and satellite academies.
  • Researching, developing, and updating policies and programs to foster communication between law enforcement, communities, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with various government agencies, public and private sectors, including attorneys, town officials, academic members, community advocates, and law enforcement personnel.
