Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher Associate II to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for our young students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Teacher in implementing educational activities and curriculum plans, ensuring alignment with program standards and best practices.
  • Prepare the learning environment, setting up interest areas and materials to support the program's educational goals.
  • Participate in all activities with the children, demonstrating expertise in early childhood development and education.
  • Solve problems and make sound judgments aligned with early childhood best practices and licensing regulations.
  • Assess and identify individual and collective learning needs, preparing a plan of instruction to cater to the full ability range in the class.
  • Communicate effectively with families, team members, supervisors, and other center staff, fostering open and respectful relationships.
  • Collaborate with families, team members, and other center staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist the Teacher in fostering appropriate skills and social attitudes in the children, promoting their overall development and well-being.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the children at all times, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Supervise, support, and guide the Teacher Associate I in the instructional process, promoting their growth and development.
  • Maintain and meet all educational requirements for NAEYC Accreditation Standards and Criteria, as well as all required licensing requirements for the Department of Children and Families-Office of Licensing.
  • Stay up-to-date with Grow NJ Kids Rating System, Criteria, and Applications, ensuring alignment with our program's goals and standards.
  • Attend and participate in professional development meetings and conferences, staying current with best practices and industry developments.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent programs.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a child care setting or related field.
  • Talent for fostering children's appetite for learning, combined with creative and resourceful skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods.
  • Genuine interest in children and respect for their individuality, with the ability to establish positive relationships with families and other professionals.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) or Child Care Professional Certificate (CCP) in early childhood or related field, and two or more years of experience working in an early childhood setting; or an Associate Degree in early childhood or related field.
  • Pediatric First Aid/CPR AED certifications and active NJCCIS registry within 30 days of hire.
