Position Overview:

The Heat Treat Engineer will provide essential engineering support to manufacturing operations, focusing on heat treatment processes and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop heat treatment manufacturing processes, including process flows and equipment specifications.
  • Utilize engineering skills to enhance process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead root cause analysis for technical challenges and provide solutions.
  • Conduct process evaluations aimed at improving quality, reducing costs, and minimizing cycle times.
  • Offer technical support to the manufacturing team for both immediate and long-term operational needs.
  • Manage documentation for process changes as required.
  • Evaluate spare part issues and implement approved modifications.
  • Prepare new equipment to align with production and quality standards.
  • Conduct capability studies and fulfill APQP and PFMEA requirements.
  • Develop layouts for new equipment installations.
  • Prepare detailed specifications for equipment as necessary.
  • Design and test tooling, fixtures, and gauges for manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee the procurement and installation of new capital equipment.
  • Generate engineering reports for process development and troubleshooting.
  • Manage projects related to process changes and new product introductions.
  • Travel occasionally as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Heat Treat Engineering within the manufacturing sector, particularly with EMAG or induction heating technologies.
  • Experience in the automotive supply industry is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in close tolerance measurements and advanced mathematical skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, equipment layouts, and part specifications.
  • Experience in designing or modifying fixtures for high-volume production is preferred.
  • Familiarity with capital procurement and plant start-up processes is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Excel and Word; familiarity with Solidworks and AutoCAD LT is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, ergonomics, and IATF standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed during project phases.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.

Work Environment:

The work environment may involve exposure to manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. Physical demands include standing, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs, and performing tasks requiring fine motor skills.
