Job Summary

HDR is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects throughout the state of Kentucky. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials testing, documentation, and project management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform construction engineering and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects.
  • Conduct materials testing and proper reporting and documentation using SiteManger and other required means.
  • Lead inspection and documentation efforts on highway and bridge construction projects, managing other inspectors as needed.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Enforce contract documents and ensure compliance with KYTC policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred, technical school or college beneficial.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction inspection or a related field.
  • ACI Level I certifications, including Aggregate Sampling Technician, Grade Level I Technician, Asphalt Lay-Down Technician, Structural Inspection Level I, and KEPSC-RI.
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and SiteManager preferred.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state law.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience inspecting transportation projects.
  • KYTC experience preferred.
  • Management experience a plus.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
