Job Summary

JMT is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to join their Kentucky Construction Management Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials to ensure quality and safety standards.
  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Work with clients to resolve construction-related field issues and gather and maintain record documents.
  • Make field notes and computations to ensure accurate records.
  • Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
  • 7+ years of Roadway Construction Inspection Experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (may be substituted for experience).
  • Knowledge of KYTC Policies and Procedures.
  • Experience with AASHTO SiteManager/SiteManager Materials.

Certifications

  • ACI Level I.
  • Grade & Drain Level I.
  • Structures inspection.
  • Aggregate Sampling Technician.
  • KEPSCI-RI.
  • Asphalt Field Technician.
  • Work Zone Technician.

Working Conditions

The work is performed in the field, and the ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
