Fleet Maintenance Manager Job Description

MV Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of our fixed route bus operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all contractual requirements are met, managing a budget for the maintenance program, and directing a team of technicians and service workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct a team of 10+ employees, including fleet technicians, service workers, and cleaners.
  • Oversee the maintenance of 80+ buses, ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules, track and control parts inventories, and manage vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage the financial and accounting aspects of the fleet maintenance operation, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including written and oral communication.
  • Have a solid knowledge of managing audits, PM schedules, and technical experience with fixed route transit bus maintenance.
  • Hold a CDL class B with airbrake endorsement.
Requirements:
  • At least 3+ years of recent experience managing the maintenance functions of a transit bus maintenance shop.
  • Experience working with 80+ buses within the last year.
  • Previous passenger transportation experience in a similar environment is preferred.
  • Ability to manage and interface with clients.
  • Technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • ASE H series or manufacturer's certifications are a plus.
