About the Automotive and Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. You will lead preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections, guiding lower-level technicians in the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Lead preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Train and guide lower-level technicians in vehicle maintenance and repair.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to obtain a CDL while employed (we provide training).
  • At least 1-3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive wage range of $27.73 per hour based on experience.
  • A $5,000 sign-on bonus*.
  • Up to $175 boot reimbursement per year.
  • Company-paid ASE testing and training materials.
  • A Monday-Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm full-time shift schedule and consistent, year-round work.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
  • Ten company-paid holidays.
  • 100% Company-paid Medical coverage for Individual plans.
