Position Overview

As a Senior Braking Systems Engineer within Chassis Engineering, you will take on the role of product owner and engage in engineering initiatives pertaining to braking system innovation. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various departments to devise engineering solutions for complex challenges and executing those solutions effectively. You will actively participate in the global Vehicle Dynamics Sub-stream Team, ensuring alignment across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Product Owner for braking system development, steering the strategic direction for braking systems in North America.
  • Lead and facilitate the resolution of technical product quality challenges.
  • Make informed technical decisions at the subsystem/component level, ensuring global and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversee engineering releases and reviews, approving necessary documentation and deliverables.
  • Ensure that new designs meet business objectives, as well as Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Feature targets.
  • Engage in networking throughout the organization, influencing initiatives at other sites.
  • Manage component releases to address maintenance issues or secure project outcomes.
  • Develop modular systems and components to enhance part diversity.
  • Verify component durability through analysis requests and/or physical testing.
  • Communicate ongoing project developments during leadership meetings.
  • Integrate contributions from others, ensuring quality readiness prior to release.
  • Contribute to the development and sharing of acquired expertise (e.g., training) and provide technical guidance.
  • Participate in the implementation and enhancement of processes as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in product development within the transportation sector.
  • Prior experience in a product development setting.
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty trucks.
  • Previous experience in Controls Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Vehicle Control Systems, specifically Braking Systems.
  • Experience with FMVSS and CMVSS regulations.
  • Understanding of ISO26262 standards.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD (CREO - AVP).
