Personal Finance Specialist

Position Overview
This role involves delivering comprehensive financial guidance at designated military facilities. The primary focus is on providing a wide range of personal financial counseling services to military personnel and their families. These services encompass educational initiatives and counseling that may include, but are not limited to, individualized consultations, collaboration with military leadership, conducting informative sessions, and offering referral resources outside of counseling contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personal financial counseling and management services directly to military personnel and their families.
- Assist service members in developing effective spending plans for extended absences.
- Create and distribute informative financial materials tailored for service members and their families.
- Organize, promote, and conduct various Personal Financial Management workshops, covering topics relevant to the military lifecycle.
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate financial education classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication methods effectively, including secure online chat and video conferencing.
- Manage duty-to-warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocols.
- Engage with leadership and participate in regular supervision sessions, sharing insights on trends and issues affecting the installations.
- Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement committees, or other relevant activities as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Consideration may be given to candidates with an associate degree plus four years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Candidates with a high school diploma and six years of relevant experience may also be considered.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and proficient in English; bilingual candidates in English and Spanish are preferred if required by the contract.
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must possess one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
- A minimum of one thousand hours of financial counseling experience is required.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $45,655 and $68,485, subject to adjustment based on individual qualifications and experience. This role may also be eligible for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, and voluntary benefits that support overall well-being.
