Job Title: Field Mechanic

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the mechanic superintendent or foreman, this position provides skilled mechanical maintenance and repair services. The ideal candidate will have experience with Slow-Speed and High-Speed engines, including Cooper, Worthington, Clark, Caterpillar, Waukesha, and Areal engines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs independently or as a team leader in the various skilled activities involved with mechanical maintenance.
  • Properly uses and maintains all company provided hand tools, power tools, and technical equipment.
  • Acts as a contact with customers, ensuring work is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provides or obtains information, identifies, or discovers information and provides a written summary of work performed.
  • Basic computer skills and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to comprehend and pass various safety training modules.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Clean driving record and ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving non-CDL company vehicles is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. Physical Requirements/Essential Functions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
