Position Overview
The Senior Client Engagement Attorney will play a crucial role in supporting various initiatives related to new business intake and managing conflicts of interest.

This role will primarily focus on executing processes associated with the review of new clients, identifying and resolving conflicts, and reviewing outside counsel guidelines.

The position will report to the Client Intake Manager and collaborate closely with the firm's ethics team.

Key Responsibilities:


Manage the intake process for prospective new clients on behalf of sponsoring attorneys, which includes conducting conflict of interest checks, reviewing conflict reports, identifying conflicts, communicating with relevant attorneys to resolve conflicts, and drafting engagement letters and necessary waivers.

Ensure accurate record-keeping related to new client intake, including maintaining the firm's conflict records, intake forms, engagement letters, and outside counsel guidelines.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders to mitigate potential risks associated with new business intake and client-provided outside counsel guidelines.

Review outside counsel guidelines, identify potential issues, collaborate with internal stakeholders, draft and revise related agreements, and communicate with clients as needed.

Draft waivers of conflicts of interest as required.
Utilize both internal and external research tools to identify potential risks associated with new client intake.
Conduct quality checks on submissions from Intake Attorneys to ensure compliance with best practices.

Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for the department and firm attorneys on conflict of interest matters and all aspects related to new client intake, new matters, and lateral conflict clearance.

Work closely with the firm's ethics officer to ensure best practices are followed in the development and implementation of engagement letters; ensure adherence to the terms outlined in engagement letters.

Potentially assist in the evaluation and implementation of new software tools relevant to the department's functions, including ethical walls and outside counsel guidelines.

Maintain a current understanding of firm trends and developments that impact the department and its processes to effectively manage ethical and business risks.

Assist in the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of ethical walls.
Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Client Intake Manager or the firm's ethics officer.
This role requires 60% in-office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree and JD are required.
4+ years of experience in a law firm in a similar role is required.
Working knowledge of ethical, legal, and risk management rules and requirements, with a willingness to learn substantive law is essential.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects daily, and adapt to shifting priorities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Experience with conflict management software such as Intapp is preferred.
Familiarity with Elite 3E or other billing software is advantageous.
Proficiency in using online research tools such as LexisNexis is necessary.
Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills are required.
A strong sense of urgency is essential.
Ability to analyze, work with, and present data effectively.
Capability to collaborate and earn the respect, trust, and confidence of the firm's attorneys and professional staff.
