We are seeking a highly skilled Disaster Response Investigator to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. This role involves conducting investigations into alleged lost, forged, and stolen disaster assistance checks, as well as allegations of fraud.

About the Role

This position is telework-eligible after a 30-day probationary period, and ongoing adherence to performance standards. As a Disaster Response Investigator, you will perform investigative work in the Other Needs Assistance (ONA) provision of the Federal Assistance to Individuals and Households Program (IHP). Your responsibilities will include training and leading new investigative staff in all aspects of investigative policies and procedures.

You will investigate evidence regarding alleged theft or violation involving agency programs, complete reports/forms to document findings or determinations, and communicate with others to provide information, answer inquiries, address issues, or resolve problems or complaints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and document evidence regarding alleged theft or violation involving agency programs (35% of time)
  • Complete reports/forms to document findings or determinations (for example, for investigations, hearings, case actions) (15% of time)
  • Inquire into an automated system to retrieve information (15% of time)
  • Communicate on an intermediate level with others to provide, exchange, or verify information, answer inquiries, address issues, or resolve problems or complaints (10% of time)
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing information for reviews or responses (10% of time)
  • Prepare moderately complex ongoing or special narrative or statistical reports (5% of time)
  • Maintain records, files, or logs, including filing, retrieving, or purging (5% of time)
  • Document case records using automated equipment to form a record for each client (5% of time)
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with a strong background in investigation and experience working in a government setting. You should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
