Job Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team at Boston Periodontics & Dental Implants. As a Surgical Dental Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our surgeons during procedures.


Responsibilities



  • Assist surgeons during surgery by performing duties such as tissue retraction, intravenous lines, and documentation.
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
  • Verify patient identity and operative site.
  • Discuss surgical procedures with the surgeon, including operative consent and exposure methods.
  • Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
  • Manage the operative field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigating equipment.
  • Determine the availability of necessary equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Inspect and obtain sterile and non-sterile surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Operate sterilization devices.
  • Monitor patient status during procedures.
  • Obtain dental radiographs and imaging.
  • Complete patient clinical narratives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification required or ability to complete within 1 month of hire.
  • At least one year of related experience preferred.
  • DAANCE certification preferred.
  • Licensed dental assistant preferred.
  • Radiology certification preferred.
