Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Rotor Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing rotor and controls components, assemblies, and systems for our electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Flight Technology, Airframe, Assembly & Integration, Vehicle Management System, Flight Controls, and System Safety, to design rotor blades, hubs, and controls.
  • Develop technical specifications, design components, and assemblies in CATIA V6, and release drawings in the PLM system.
  • Lead the component/assembly lifecycle from conceptual design through buildup and test of the prototype air vehicles.
  • Support the broader team in incorporating rotor systems into the air vehicle, including rotor blade to hub integration, rotor hub to drivetrain integration, and instrumentation integration.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers of rotor system assembly components.
  • Work collaboratively with the Assembly and Integration Team to provide prototype parts for system-level testing and engineering builds.
  • Build and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) reports for systems and components.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions and other engineering administrative tasks as required to support prototype build and testing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; Master's degree in a relevant engineering field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace dynamic systems component/assembly design.
  • Prior experience in crafting rotating machinery.
  • Proficiency with 3D Computer-Aided Design System (CATIA V6, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Auto CAD or equivalent).
  • Proven conceptual design experience, including 3D layouts.
  • Proficiency with vehicle and related sub-component product development processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on helicopter and/or tiltrotor rotor systems.
  • Experience with developing rotor system test plans.
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis.
  • Prior background with rotor system tests.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as 3D Experience.
  • Prior background knowledge of electric and hybrid powertrain systems.
What We Offer

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is: $144,100 - $176,200 USD

Supernal provides an inviting open-space workplace designed to foster collaboration, which aligns with one of our core values. This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week.
