Medical Director for Palliative Care

The University of Louisville Department of Medicine seeks a highly skilled physician to lead its Division of Palliative Medicine. As the Chief, you will be responsible for expanding palliative medicine services and coordinating efforts with colleagues in pain medicine, ethics, and addiction medicine. This initiative aligns with the department's mission to expand its operations throughout the UofL network and its affiliates.
- Estimated salary range: $250,000 - $300,000 per annum, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a strong commitment to patient-centered care, and experience in palliative medicine. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and advance the division's education and research missions.
Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of palliative medicine programs and services.
- Collaborate with colleagues in pain medicine, ethics, and addiction medicine to enhance patient care.
- Develop and manage budgets to support program growth and expansion.
- Mentor and supervise staff members to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Participate in educational activities, including teaching medical students and residents.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine).
- At least 5 years of experience in palliative medicine, preferably in a leadership role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
