Job Title: Water Resources Engineer - Coastal Projects Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team and work on various coastal projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coastal engineering, hydrology, and environmental science, with a passion for developing sustainable solutions to complex water resource challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement coastal engineering projects, including shoreline protection, marsh creation, and hydraulic restoration.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to assess coastal processes and impacts.
- Perform site assessments and lead data collection efforts to support project planning and design.
- Develop and review technical reports, plans, and specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists and planners.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Participate in community engagement and client meetings to present project findings and gather feedback.
- Provide technical support during construction and post-construction phases.
Requirements:
- A master's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field. Relevant and sufficient work experience may substitute for the master's degree requirement.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a year.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in water resources engineering, focusing on coastal projects.
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS, SWMM, Delft3D, MIKE21).
- Strong understanding of coastal processes, sediment transport, and climate change impacts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of MATLAB, Python, Fortran, and other programming systems.
- Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to acclimate to project management software or related software.
