Maintenance Engineer III Job Description

The Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer III to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the hotel's mechanical systems are running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair all mechanical equipment, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as scheduled.
  • Inspect guest rooms and public spaces to identify and repair any issues.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene, and cleanliness protocols at all times.
  • Run tests and add chemicals to the water and sewage system, including the swimming pool and spa.
  • Diagnose and repair machine malfunctions, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Clean and lubricate machinery, and perform plumbing, painting, and electrical work as needed.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, and complete all assigned work orders.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment.
  • Set comfort zones in meeting rooms and public spaces, and issue keys and re-key guestroom doors as needed.
  • Install, program, and repair automated machinery, and set up and operate machine tools as required.
  • Maintain logs and records of preventative maintenance schedules and equipment used in making repairs.
  • Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.
  • Report major repairs and items that cannot be repaired to the Chief Engineer for further action.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical experience.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for the operation and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Skill in the use of related tools, including hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to write routine maintenance reports.
  • Able to deal with a number of problems with various levels of complexity, requiring initiative and good judgment.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior maintenance experience.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • HVAC certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Grooming:

All associates must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

Pay Scale:

The salary range for this position is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience, and education.
