Herbert Rowland & Grubic is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in Harrisburg, PA. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a vital role in processing payroll, compliance, and reporting, data entry, and recordkeeping, and general administration and support functions.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor and post weekly employee timesheets
- Process bi-weekly payroll, including regular pay, bonuses, retroactive pay, garnishments, and excess pay
- Set-up and monitor earning and deduction codes as necessary and ensure proper tax codes are applied
- Review payroll register prior to submitting payroll to ensure accuracy
- Create and maintain employee records and related data
- Monitor employee tax setup in payroll and ensure correct codes are entered
- Manage Paid Time Off program, including employee accrual schedules, donations, etc.
- Generate and submit reports to the outsourced tax filer
- Process weekly & bi-weekly payroll reports
- Ensure compliance with appropriate state payroll and tax laws
- Manage registration of new states with the Secretary of State and Dept. of Revenue
- Enter daily cash receipts
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll and related functions, specifically in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Multi-state payroll experience a plus
- Experience working with Paycor payroll company a plus
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Previous experience working with ERP systems, preferably Deltek Vantagepoint
- Must be highly dependable, focused, organized, and detailed-oriented, possessing excellent time management and communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Must have a valid Driver's License to travel to meetings and/or regional office(s)
- Has the legal right to work in the U.S.
