Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team in the non-profit sector. This role is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to payroll processing and record keeping. Candidates with experience processing union and non union payroll, completing payroll for legal billings, or experience in the non-profit sector are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation and distribution of bi-weekly payroll
• Manage all processes and procedures associated with payroll data calculation and input
• Ensure accurate tax reporting and maintain necessary records
• Handle file management and records retention related to payroll
• Oversee the record keeping and payment of employee benefits
• Utilize accounting software systems to efficiently manage payroll related tasks
• Conduct auditing of payroll data to ensure accuracy
• Manage various accounting functions related to payroll
• Handle benefit functions and reconcile payroll records
• Process year-end payroll and weekly payroll as required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
• Excellent communication skills
• Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
