We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Core Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and performing specialized testing in the areas of point-of-care, chemistry, immunology, urinalysis, hematology, coagulation, proteins, and biomarkers.
Key Responsibilities- Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform and supervise laboratory testing of human biological samples for research purposes using various methodologies, ensuring the accuracy and quality of results.
- Administrative Duties: Assume administrative responsibilities in supervising operations and personnel across the UF Health: PHRC center and remote sites, including purchasing supplies, maintaining instruments and equipment, and complying with laboratory policies and procedures.
- Instrumentation and LIS: Actively oversee the interfacing of automated instrumentation with the laboratory information system (LIS), involved in LIS-associated tasks such as test builds and dictionary maintenance.
- Data Analysis and Validation: Perform data validation, manipulation, and exporting in Excel, as well as applying supervised and unsupervised learning techniques such as signal linearity.
- Instrument Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform scheduled, preventive, and troubleshooting maintenance of instrumentation, as well as maintenance of laboratory and laboratory equipment.
- Quality Management: Adhere to the laboratory's quality management program, including quality assurance activities, and ensure the performance, quality, and accuracy of results reported.
- Dispatching and Specimen Management: Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, tracking, and storing of specimens to create a system that responds quickly to center needs and runs efficiently.
- Test Development and Training: Participate, with other technologists, in the development of tests as defined by the laboratory director, and keep laboratory procedure manuals up to date, training junior staff as needed.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area, such as gerontology, neuropsychology, psychology, hematology, microbiology, or a related field.
- Experience: Two years of relevant experience in a healthcare or academic research environment, preferably with experience in working with older adults and knowledge of working and analyzing blood-based biomarkers.
- Certifications: Phlebotomy certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Working in Healthcare or Academic Research: Experience working in healthcare or academic research environments, preferably with a background in working with older adults.
- Blood-Based Biomarkers: Knowledge of working and analyzing blood-based biomarkers, including cognitive health assessments such as AP 42|40, APOE.
