Position Overview

Weaver is seeking a qualified individual to take on the role of Systems Administrator II within our expanding internal IT department. This position will primarily focus on the design, implementation, and ongoing management of both new and existing IT infrastructure systems. A significant emphasis will be placed on supporting converged infrastructure, which includes server and network hardware, VMware virtualization, shared storage solutions, data protection, and comprehensive infrastructure monitoring. This responsibility also encompasses associated services such as the maintenance and patching of Windows and Linux operating systems, administration of Distributed File Servers, and other necessary systems. After-hours support may be required based on project demands and incidents. Compliance with established controls and policies from the corporate office is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the ticketing system for new unassigned activities. Address and resolve, or escalate/redirect, IT infrastructure requests.
  • Respond to alerts from server and network monitoring systems regarding disk space and service outages.
  • Conduct standard server administration tasks, including the design, deployment, monitoring, and independent diagnostics of server hardware and software.
  • Manage VMware vSphere and shared storage solutions.
  • Oversee data backup and recovery systems.
  • Execute various standard system administration duties related to common Microsoft Windows Server roles, Distributed File Servers, Azure virtual environments, and e-discovery.
  • Assist Senior Administrators with the management of endpoints, internal networks, and Microsoft Azure services.
  • Assess IT infrastructure systems to identify potential security vulnerabilities, performance issues, or changes in resource needs.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and incident response initiatives.
  • Research and propose innovative and automated solutions for system administration tasks.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor while navigating a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary. Be available on-call for emergencies.

To excel in this position, the following qualifications are required:

  • An associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
  • At least 1 year of experience across multiple IT disciplines (e.g., Networking, hardware, Windows desktop and Server OS, Azure, Active Directory, GPO, virtualization).
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the following:
    • Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems.
    • Network and server monitoring tools.
    • Server hardware.
    • Storage solutions – SAN/NAS/DAS.
    • VMware vSphere.
    • Data backup and recovery systems.
  • Proven ability to:
    • Analyze and troubleshoot issues across multiple disciplines.
    • Plan and support multiple concurrent projects, manage time effectively, and keep management and team informed of progress and challenges.
    • Accurately document and implement system requirements and configurations.
    • Travel occasionally for team meetings or system assessments and implementations.
    • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software relevant to this field.

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Ability to articulate ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly terms.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Experience in an agile, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with the following is preferred: Teams, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive; traditional Active Directory Domain Services and Exchange servers; PowerShell scripting for task automation; Electronic Data Discovery.
