Position Overview
The Credit Officer plays a pivotal role in the Association's Retail Agriculture initiative. This position is primarily tasked with evaluating and endorsing credit proposals, scrutinizing loan applications, and collaborating with Retail Agriculture representatives to fulfill the financial requirements of our clientele, which typically involves loans under $5 million.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales personnel to comprehend customer objectives, financial data, credit strengths, and weaknesses, providing constructive lending solutions that enhance customer service.
- Maintain a consultative relationship with clients, delivering sound analyses and decisions aligned with the Association's goals and risk profile.
- Review loans initiated by Retail sales staff, ensuring prompt decision-making.
- Authorize loans within designated limits or recommend approvals for sound loan structures, terms, and conditions, with authority levels ranging from $150,000 to $4,000,000.
- Conduct ongoing credit assessments to identify potential risks.
- Develop expertise in agriculture, finance, credit, technology, and market needs.
- Stay informed about specialized government programs and apply them as needed in credit administration.
- Ensure high loan quality and effective credit management.
- Act as a credit resource and mentor for colleagues.
- Facilitate cross-training sessions to enhance credit knowledge across various teams.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in credit analysis.
Mental & Physical Requirements
This role necessitates regular sitting, use of hands for tasks, and verbal communication. Frequent standing or walking is required, with occasional demands for reaching and lifting up to ten pounds. Vision requirements include both close and distance vision. The work environment typically features moderate noise levels. This position may involve a combination of mental and physical tasks, requiring strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
