About the Role

Adecco US, Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Ayer, MA. As a direct hire position, this role offers full benefits and a competitive salary range of $30-40 per hour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance team in repairing and troubleshooting production lines, high-speed packaging equipment, and other machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to planned schedules, ensuring optimal equipment performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment, inspect operating conditions, and identify root causes of equipment issues.
  • Understand PLC systems, troubleshoot electrical components, and work with wiring diagrams to resolve complex problems.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment, repair and replace worn-out parts, and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Locate and address sources of problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, and examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using measuring instruments.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Control, reduce, or eliminate downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needed items, and placing orders.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, computer classes, and lessons, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of maintenance mechanic experience.
  • Maintenance mechanic experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Maintenance mechanic experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of maintenance terminology, GMP, OSHA, FIFO, SPL, and PM.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high motivation, and responsibility, with the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and consistently changing environment.
  • Ability to think independently and consistently collaborate and communicate with management.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and lift.
  • The employee is required to stand and walk at minimum 70% of the time.
  • The employee must be able to work 8-hour shifts.
  • The employee must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
  • The employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis.
  • The employee must be able to work in a cold and hot environment.
  • The employee must be able to climb steps on a frequent basis.
  • The employee must be able to use an elevated platform/lift to reach raised work areas or equipment failures.
