The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center represents the largest investment in a cybersecurity facility in the nation.

This $100 million center aims to address the increasing demand for cybersecurity professionals both locally and nationally.

It embodies a unique collaboration between Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, and various state and federal partners, all focused on workforce development and innovation in cybersecurity.


The state-of-the-art facility is strategically located within Augusta's growing cybersecurity corridor, which also hosts the U.S. Army Cyber Command.

The Center is situated on Augusta University's downtown campus and is home to the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.

Job Summary

Position Overview
The Cybersecurity Intern is a Regular Part-Time Non-Benefits Eligible role. The intern will work closely with the IT Team to gain insights into workstation management, audiovisual (AV) support, and networking.

Focus will be placed on comprehending the tools and devices utilized in these areas and applying analytical skills to understand their functions and applications.

Responsibilities

Technical Support
The intern will observe and assist in troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware issues in modern computing environments, including internet and network connectivity for various devices. They will develop skills in workstation management tools and gain an understanding of network infrastructure.

AV Support
Assist team members in providing support for multimedia systems, projectors, televisions, and visitor management systems. Help with AV equipment during events and meetings, and learn troubleshooting techniques for AV programming.

PC Support
Learn to provide ticket-based customer support and assist with device deployment. Familiarize with remote endpoint device management and software updates.

Consultation and Training
Acquire skills to offer consultation and personalized training for users on enterprise technologies, including hardware, software, and web applications.

Documentation
Ensure accurate documentation by creating and maintaining service requests in an incident management system. Implement and monitor standards and procedures, and learn data backup and recovery processes.

Communication
Learn effective communication techniques from IT team members to address and resolve client issues promptly.

Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized institution.

OR


Currently enrolled in an associate or bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university, majoring in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, and within two to four years of anticipated graduation.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with desktop/laptop systems and software.

Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.

Abilities
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates must successfully pass a background check prior to employment.


For specific positions, candidates may also be required to undergo a credit check.

Motor vehicle reports may be necessary for roles requiring driving an Augusta University vehicle.


For Faculty Hires:

Final candidates will need to provide proof of completed academic degrees and post-secondary coursework through original transcripts.

Those trained by foreign institutions will also need to provide an educational evaluation.
