United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire (UCPIE) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of people with disabilities. Our mission is to provide high-quality services and support to individuals with cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, epilepsy, intellectual delay, and other disabilities.

Job Summary

The Respite Worker will provide temporary care and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities in their home environment. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be able to provide responsible care, follow instructions, and maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide intermittent, regular scheduled, temporary care and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities in their home environment
* Follow instructions for the care of clients and maintain a safe and healthy environment
* Assist clients with daily living activities, such as feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, and grooming
* Use safety precautions at all times when providing care to clients
* Report suspected incidents of abuse to the Respite Program Manager and complete required documentation
* Maintain certification of CPR and First Aid at all times
* Adhere to policies and procedures in the employee handbook and respite fundamental training manual

Requirements

* High school diploma or equivalent
* 2 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (experience can be caring for a family member with a disability)
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Computer proficiency
* CPR and First Aid Certification
* Clean TB test every 4 years
* Valid Driver's License
* Valid vehicle registration
* Valid vehicle insurance
* Clear security clearance through the FBI and DOJ
* Legally eligible to work in the U.S.A.

Work Environment

This position requires community driving and visiting families in a variety of home settings. The physical demands of this role include lifting, pulling, pushing, running, and manipulating adaptive equipment and patients, which requires strength and gross motor and fine motor coordination. The employee must be able to perform CPR and administer First-Aid. The position requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time (2 to 8 hours per shift).
