Key Responsibilities

The Nuclear Medicine Specialist I is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and executing diagnostic procedures across a diverse patient demographic, from children to the elderly. This role requires a thorough understanding of nuclear medicine protocols and compliance with regulatory standards. The specialist will conduct patient assessments, prepare patients for procedures, and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes. Continuous professional development and adherence to departmental policies are essential.


  • Engage with patients, families, and healthcare staff in a courteous and responsive manner to ensure optimal patient care and education regarding testing procedures.
  • Execute imaging procedures as specified in the nuclear medicine procedural guidelines, including planar imaging, SPECT, and mobile studies.
  • Conduct computer-based acquisition and processing for the analysis and interpretation of patient data.
  • Participate in educational initiatives for nuclear medicine staff, including training for technologists, students, and medical residents.
  • Manage the ordering, preparation, and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on all nuclear medicine equipment and promptly report any discrepancies to supervisory personnel.
  • Administer various types of dosages, including intravenous and oral, in accordance with established hospital protocols.
  • Maintain punctuality and adhere to the rotational position methodology.
  • Conduct EKGs during stress tests and emergency situations as required.
  • Engage in on-call duties as necessary.
  • Complete all documentation related to nuclear medicine procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with administrative tasks during off-hours to ensure the completion and reporting of all studies.
  • Comply with all safety regulations regarding the handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Stay updated with mandatory training and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.
Qualifications

*Preferred: Associate's Degree
*Certification: NMTCB or ARRT (N) with current status
*State Certification: Texas MRT
*CPR/BLS certification required.
