Key Responsibilities:- Safety Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- DOT Compliance:
- Ensure all transportation activities comply with DOT regulations, including hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and driver qualifications.
- Maintain and update all required DOT documentation and records.
- Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation and ongoing training sessions.
- Educate employees on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and DOT regulations.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit incident reports as required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Implement and monitor safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Vehicle and Driver Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and inspection of company vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards and DOT requirements.
- Monitor driver qualifications, conduct background checks, and ensure all drivers maintain proper licensing and certifications.
- Safety Culture Promotion:
- Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting safe work practices and encouraging employee involvement in safety initiatives.
- Lead safety meetings and communicate safety-related information to all levels of the organization.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay current with changes in safety and DOT regulations and ensure the company remains compliant.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to address regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in safety management, with a focus on DOT compliance.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety and DOT regulations.
- Must be bilingual Spanish and English.
- Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyze data and develop actionable safety strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct site inspections in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry safety equipment and materials as needed.
- Some travel required within the East Coast.
