We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Ground Software Engineer to join our team at CesiumAstro. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of ground software systems for our satellite program.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with a minimum of 12 years of experience in satellite ground systems. They should also have demonstrated experience leading a software team through product development and prior experience as a satellite operator to provide valuable insights into the systems they will be building and integrating.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, development, and deployment of ground software systems.
  • Rapidly executing to produce a simple, reliable ground system.
  • Implementing real-time data acquisition, processing, and visualization systems for satellite telemetry.
  • Integrating and testing ground software with satellite, ground stations, and network infrastructure.
  • Developing automated systems for satellite operation and ground system monitoring.
  • Conducting rigorous testing and validation of ground software.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving software issues encountered during satellite operations.
  • Collaborating closely with hardware engineers, satellite operators, and other software teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.

Candidates should possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong problem-solving-skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex software issues in real-time are essential. An optimistic, can-do attitude and the ability to produce in a chaotic environment are also required.

CesiumAstro offers a competitive salary range of $220,000-$320,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package featuring health, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life and retirement plans.
