Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center is a prominent 881-bed quaternary care academic facility, established through a partnership between Baylor College of Medicine and CHI St. Luke's Health.

Situated within the Texas Medical Center, this institution is home to the Texas Heart Institute, a renowned cardiovascular research and education center founded in 1962 by Dr. Denton A. Cooley.

The hospital has achieved the prestigious designation of a Magnet hospital for Nursing Excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, receiving this honor five consecutive times.

Additionally, Baylor St. Luke's operates three community emergency centers that provide adult and pediatric care to the Greater Houston area.

CommonSpirit Health emerged from the merger of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, boasting over 700 care sites nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

1. Exhibit proficiency in the educational process and assist management and clinical personnel in developing and delivering educational initiatives.

2. Utilize assessment tools to identify educational needs and collaborate with nurse managers, clinical nurse specialists, and educators to plan relevant learning activities.

3. Conduct needs assessments in partnership with management and nursing staff to ascertain developmental and educational requirements.

4. Evaluate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and technical competencies of staff to assist in categorizing orientation and professional development.

5. Engage with staff to facilitate the enhancement of their clinical, managerial, and research capabilities.

6. Encourage career progression through mentorship and support for clinical ladder advancement.

7. Collaborate with management and clinical staff to establish an effective preceptor and mentorship program.

8. Work with management to design, update, and implement cost-effective educational programs aimed at improving patient outcomes for all nursing personnel.

9. Partner with management to organize and direct new employee orientation.

10. Lead and engage in performance enhancement initiatives and other quality improvement activities by monitoring and assessing the outcomes of educational programs.

11. Integrate research findings into clinical practice, educational initiatives, and policy revisions.

12. Support and participate in unit-based research projects to enhance the knowledge base of the nursing profession.

Qualifications

*Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
*Registered Nurse and BLS certification required

*Minimum of three (3) years of clinical education experience

*BLS certification through the American Heart Association

*ACLS certification within six months of hire through the American Heart Association
