Fostering Prevention Specialist

Job Summary:
The Fostering Prevention Specialist provides critical support to families at risk of entering foster care. This role involves delivering flexible and responsive services to families, addressing their unique needs and promoting stability for their children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept referrals from the community and respond within one business day.
- Prioritize and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Maintain open communication with direct supervisors regarding services delivered and concerns.
- Obtain necessary releases and consents.
- Provide families with information and community referrals.
- Assist caregivers in identifying and removing barriers to receiving services.
- Create a plan with the parent to meet identified needs.
- Ensure families have access to benefits, including TANF and respite care services.
- Assist parents in utilizing existing community resources and support systems.
- Improve parents' social support systems and family resources.
- Make referrals or implement strategies in partnership with families.
- Collect and record data on presenting problems and resources/supports given.
- Complete and maintain up-to-date documentation of families/clients.
- Liaison with key community stakeholders and attend community meetings as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and assist other program staff as needed.
- Analyze data to identify trends and directions for future systemic advocacy efforts.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in social work or a related human services field.
- Previous child welfare experience required; three years preferred.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new efficiencies.
- Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
- Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for relative and kinship families.
- Ability to collaborate and advocate for positive outcomes.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to write clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in working with diverse cultures and organizations.
