Position Overview
The Trauma Care Nurse Practitioner role is designed to deliver comprehensive patient care to a diverse population of trauma patients.
This position involves direct patient engagement, utilizing clinical expertise and judgment to assess situations, prioritize needs, and apply critical thinking in clinical scenarios. The role includes participation in educational initiatives for both patients and staff, showcasing leadership capabilities, and maintaining accountability in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to a varied trauma patient demographic.
- Utilize clinical knowledge and experience to evaluate and prioritize patient needs.
- Engage in educational activities for patients and healthcare staff.
- Exhibit leadership qualities and accountability in nursing practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Trauma or Surgery Nurse Practitioner.
- Master's degree, DNP, or PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current certifications in AHA CPR/BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification to be obtained within six months of employment.
- Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP).
- Possession of an unrestricted California RN and Nurse Practitioner license.
- Furnishing license and DEA certification within three months of hire.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong judgment skills to effectively address patient needs.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-direction.
Preferred Experience
- At least one year of recent clinical experience in a specialty care setting.
Department Overview
This role requires independent advanced-level clinical expertise to manage ongoing patient care, including chronic conditions, routine assessments, and acute or critical care protocols. The Nurse Practitioner will perform both non-invasive and invasive procedures as necessary, and will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient management.
