Position OverviewThe Director of Medical Affairs is a key medical professional who will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer. This role focuses on the assessment and management of immune and infectious diseases. The Director will provide medical and scientific guidance for various company initiatives in different phases of clinical development, as well as for marketed products globally. This position is pivotal in offering high-quality internal expertise to senior leadership and will collaborate with Marketing, Medical Education, and Business Development teams to evaluate new prospects.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate the planning and execution of Clinical Development studies, ensuring compliance with quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
- Support clinical studies initiated by investigators.
- Deliver expert medical insights to cross-functional teams within the organization.
- Organize and conduct advisory board and steering committee meetings.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in various regions to define and implement regional strategies aligned with corporate goals.
- Provide clinical input for disease-specific strategic plans, publications, educational resources, study protocols, and meeting objectives.
- Recruit and oversee the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team.
- Monitor Medical Affairs activities and assess performance against established goals and budgets.
- Conduct regular literature reviews and analyses to support the company’s strategic objectives and identify new scientific opportunities.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to create a timely publication strategy.
- Engage with key stakeholders as a therapeutic area medical strategy expert, including thought leaders and policy makers.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An MD with a specialization in Infectious Diseases or Immunology.
- A minimum of 5 years of industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing clinical trials is advantageous.
- Strong skills in data analysis and interpretation.
- Exceptional analytical capabilities and the ability to translate medical affairs strategies into actionable plans.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate discussions and present to diverse audiences.
- A customer-focused approach and credibility with stakeholders.
- Cultural awareness and international experience, along with proficiency in multiple languages, are beneficial.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25-33% of the time.
