Curriculum Specialist

The Curriculum Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality education standards at our centers. This position serves as a role model for teaching techniques, discipline, and professional growth and development. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between teaching staff and center management, maintaining center resource and supply areas. As a member of the Center Management Team, this individual will take responsibility for center operations in the absence of the Center Director and Family Support Coach.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular classroom observations using Sheltering Arms classroom observation forms, monthly focus checklists, NAEYC, ITERS, ECERS, CLASS, RRFTS, and other related curriculum observation checklists.
- Assist teachers in self-evaluation and goal setting, following up on previous goals.
- Provide mentorship and technical assistance to teachers in classrooms when needed.
- Model and provide coaching for developmentally appropriate practice for teachers in the classrooms.
- Participate in regular management team meetings to share concerns and progress.
- Conduct lead teacher meetings at least twice a month.
- Assist the Center Director in establishing agendas for staff meetings.
- Support the Center Director and Lead Teachers in conducting new teacher orientation.
- Assist the Center Director with classroom teacher performance appraisals.
- Review and provide feedback on lesson plans weekly.
- Work one-on-one with classroom staff to foster continued professional growth and development.
- Ensure that resource and supply areas are organized and orderly.
- Monitor classroom inventories and assist the Center Director in ordering necessary materials.
- Provide onsite staff training for teachers and parents and assist with area and agency training.
- Follow up with teachers who have received training to ensure implementation in the classroom.
- Train staff on and monitor developmental assessment data entry and use in weekly lesson plans.
- Meet regularly with the Director Of Curriculum and Instruction to share curriculum concerns and assist in the development of curriculum materials.
- Participate in staff and parent meetings as needed.
- Stay informed of current information on child development by reading and attending conferences and workshops.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to visually observe and hear children from all areas of the classroom and playground from a distance of at least 70 feet.
- High degree of oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to hear children from a distance of at least 70 feet.
- Ability to sit on the floor and interact with children.
- Minimum of five years of classroom experience with children birth to five.
- Two years of experience supervising adults in a child care and education setting.
- Experience with adult education.
- Willingness to work as a team member of a team.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field and three years of administrative or supervisory experience.
- Masters in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field and one year of administrative or supervisory experience.
