Position Title: Medical Assistant

Role Summary:

The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in the daily functions of the assigned clinic. This position encompasses both administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring that patients receive top-notch service and care. The Medical Assistant will be trained in various operational areas, including patient scheduling, billing, coding, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to patient inquiries and assist them in navigating clinic services.
  • Prepare examination rooms for patient consultations and manage diagnostic equipment.
  • Measure and document patient vital signs, preparing them for examinations and tests.
  • Conduct routine patient assessments, including electrocardiograms and specimen collection.
  • Maintain and manage electronic patient records efficiently.
  • Ensure accurate updates to patient health records.
  • Communicate test results to patients as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Perform front office tasks, including:
    • Welcoming patients and visitors, determining their purpose for visiting.
    • Completing patient registration and data entry processes.
    • Facilitating patient check-in and check-out procedures.
    • Coordinating patient appointments and managing schedules.
    • Processing payment transactions and verifying insurance eligibility.
    • Assisting the billing department with claims processing.
    • Occasionally managing pre-certifications and authorizations as needed.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of medical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.

Education and Experience:

  • Active Medical Assistant Certification is mandatory.
  • Current BLS CPR Certification is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED is essential.
  • Preferred experience of 2+ years in a medical office or clinic setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift light to medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to various clinic locations as required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Capability to navigate different departments and clinic sites.
  • Access to reliable transportation for commuting purposes.

Position Details:

  • Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly
