Position Overview:
The Operating Room Surgical Specialist plays a vital role in the surgical team, providing essential support during surgical procedures under the supervision of a Physician or Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute pre-surgical scrub techniques and don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
2. Collect, verify, and prepare necessary supplies and equipment for surgical operations.
3. Organize the sterile back table and Mayo stand with required instruments, supplies, and medications.
4. Conduct initial counts of instruments, sharps, and sponges with the circulator.
5. Assist surgical team members with gowning and gloving procedures.
6. Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring verification of consent and proper skin preparation.
7. Engage in the surgical site verification process during the time-out procedure.
8. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by providing instruments and supplies during the operation.
9. Maintain the highest standards of sterile technique throughout the procedure.
10. Perform post-operative duties including preparing sterile dressings and assisting with room turnover.

Qualifications:
Experience:
Preferred 1 to 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist in an operating room setting.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology preferred.

Certifications:
Completion of an accredited surgical technology program and possession of a certified surgical technologist credential is required.
