Job Summary

The CalSTRS Accounting Division is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Accountant I to join our team. As a key member of the Contributions Unit, you will be responsible for managing employer contribution accounts, including receivable collections, contribution returns, penalties, and interest. You will also be responsible for monitoring and analyzing contribution revenue and preparing revenue accruals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage employer contribution accounts, including receivable collections, contribution returns, penalties, and interest.
  • Monitor and analyze contribution revenue and prepare revenue accruals.
  • Work closely with the Contributions Manager and Assistant Director of Receivables, Billings, and Contributions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury and Banking Management unit to produce case projections for liquidity management.

Requirements:

  • Accounting or financial services industry operations experience.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Project management skills and ability to oversee multiple ongoing tasks.
  • Effective staff management and communication skills.
  • Ability to independently plan and exercise initiative and flexibility.
